As we reported Monday, The Undertaker was rumored to be penciled in for this months Extreme Rules Pay-Per-View event. However, reports from WrestlingObserver.com are now saying otherwise. The Undertaker’s presence at Extreme Rules was rumored to only happen if John Cena was not cleared to wrestle in the main event, but with WWE confirming Tuesday that John Cena will indeed still compete on May 19th, the need for another big name like The Undertaker seems to have dwindled.
Friday night’s episode of Smackdown saw the Shield put “The Dead Man” through a table, just as they have many others times before. This was said to have been done so that the WWE can write off ‘Taker until they might need him next, albeit SummerSlam, Royal Rumble, or WrestleMania. With John Cena being injured in Europe, his title match with Ryback was in question until Tuesday morning when it was confirmed that the match is definitely on.
The WWE could still use The Undertaker in 3 weeks at Extreme Rules, and would most likely pair him with Team Hell No once again in a 6-man tag match against The Shield. We’ll just have to wait and see.
WWE Extreme Rules is LIVE on PPV on May 19th. Check out the updated match card here. WrestlingRumors.net will have full live coverage during the event here, and live Twitter coverage @WrestleRumors.
