The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided an update on Sting signing a WWE contract. According to the report, the papers have yet to be signed by either party, but the proposed deal is that of a WWE Legends Contract, which would pay “The Icon” around $10,000 with no guarantees.
Sting and WWE are reportedly still trying to work out a deal, although no one knows for sure what is keeping signatures from touching the dotted line. Multiple reports were made prior to WrestleMania XXX that claimed Sting had signed a deal with the company following his departure from TNA Wrestling. At the same time, other reports claimed that he had gotten close to a deal, but never signed.
It appears that the latter has remained the case, as Sting has yet to officially become a contracted talent for WWE. He has been rumored to wrestle at least one match for WWE before he retires in 2015, and reportedly “The Man Called Sting” wants The Undertaker at WrestleMania 31. The match would finally answer so many fans’ dreams as that match has been labeled the “ultimate fan match-up” since 2001.
WWE has used comments from Sting for a documentary on the Ultimate Warrior following his death in April, but that has been the extent of their relationship this year. However, WWE has been creating Sting merchandise to hopefully sell in their “Legends” section of WWEShop.com. The merchandise will be focused around the moniker, “A Man Called Sting,” which is a trademark that the company acquired when they purchased World Championship Wrestling 14 years ago.
With the WWE Network getting ready to launch it’s “WWE/WCW Monday Night War” feature, Sting could easily be one of the many people interviewed and showcased during the documentary, as he was a major player for WCW during this time.
No one knows if Sting will ever actually sign a WWE contract, but as the saying goes, “the only thing for sure about Sting is that nothing’s for sure.”

Again. I’ll believe it when I see it.
