According to Dave Meltzer of F4Wonline.com, Sting is still expected to compete at “SummerSlam,” as advertising materials for the event have already been produced with Sting featured on them. Initially, Sting was set to team with Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns to face a reunited Wyatt Family. However, with Erick Rowan still out of action with a torn biceps, it seems as if plans may change.
WWE will either have to add a new member to The Wyatt Family, in order to keep the six-man tag team match in tact, or Sting will be dropped from the bout and Ambrose, Reigns, Luke Harper, and Bray Wyatt will work together. Meltzer claims that this is an unlikely scenario, and if WWE already has Sting ready to work “SummerSlam,” they’ll likely add a new member to The Wyatt Family to keep the bout on the card.
He writes,
“Advertising has already been cut for SummerSlam that featured both Undertaker and Sting. Sting’s return at SummerSlam had been planned for months to be part of a six-man teaming with Roman Reigns & Dean Ambrose against the reunited Wyatt Family. But with the injury to Erick Rowan, that had to be changed. It’s not clear exactly how this will change.
An angle that appeared to set up Reigns & Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper took place on Raw after Battleground on 7/18 in Kansas City. So one of three things will happen. Either there will be a new member of the Wyatt Family introduced in the next week or two, which results in Reigns & Ambrose getting Sting as their mystery partner (which was the scenario as of two weeks ago), or there will be an Ambrose injury and Sting will take his spot, or they’ll drop Sting. I doubt it’ll be the latter of the three, since people who have seen Sting of late noted to us he’s in incredible shape right now.”
