PWInsider.com has provided an update on Dolph Ziggler and Kane’s upcoming return to WWE programming. As previously reported, Ziggler was written off of WWE television in order to film his role in the upcoming WWE Studio’s motion picture, “6:42.”
New reports are claiming that Kane was written off WWE TV for the same reason, as WWE itself has revealed that Glenn Jacobs, credited as Kane, will also be starring in the film. The announcement regarding the plot of “6:42” reads as follows,
The department, led by Lt. Cronin (WWE Superstar Kane) comes up with the payoff and Ray is tasked as the bagman. When the handover goes down, Ray is forced to shoot and kill the kidnapper before he can set off the bomb and kill the child.
With 6 hours and 42 minutes left before the timed explosive detonates, Ray and Internal Affairs agent Julia Baker (Katharine Isabelle from “See No Evil 2″) race against time to find the now deceased kidnapper’s hidden lair and save the child before it’s too late.”
The film is reportedly set to wrap up its shoot on Aug. 14, which will allow Ziggler to return to WWE programming on Aug. 17 during “Monday Night Raw.” He is expected to face Rusev in a match just six days later at “SummerSlam” on Aug. 23.
Kane may be back as early as Aug. 17 as well, as we previously reported that WWE has been calling him and requesting that he return to TV as soon as possible. Jacobs was supposed to have the remainder of the Summer off, and he would return in the Fall, but likely due to injuries to stars such as United States Champion John Cena, he’s being brought back into the fold earlier than initially planned.
Editor’s Note:
It’ll be good to have Ziggler back. I just hope the whole Lana/Rusev/Ziggler/Summer Rae angle ends at “SummerSlam.”
