On April 30, the WWE Network ran an exclusive “Live! with Chris Jericho” podcast. During the program, WWE CBO Stephanie McMahon says “never say never” in response to Dana White saying Ronda Rousey will never wrestle in WWE while under contract with UFC.
As previously reported, White made his comments when asked if Rousey would be allowed to compete in a match against McMahon anytime soon. White had heard the comments regarding to WWE wanting to use Rousey vs. McMahon at WrestleMania 32 in Arlington, Texas on April 3, and when asked if Rousey would be allowed to participate and work the match, White said no.
During “Live! with Chris Jericho” on the WWE Network, Jericho asked McMahon what she thought about the segment she had with Rousey at WrestleMania 31, and if WWE has plans to do a match between the two of them. McMahon responded by saying that they’re waiting to see if anything will ever come away from it, but that they have obviously thought about it.
McMahon says that she’s a legitimate fan of Rousey’s and thinks she’s amazing, McMahon states that she wants her daughters to look up to her, because of how much of a role model she is, whether she thinks of herself as one or not, Rousey’s inspiring and a legitimate bad ass.
In response to if WWE has thought about the kind of money a McMahon vs. Rousey match would draw and if they’re going to work towards getting it on a card, McMahon says,
“I’d be lying if I said I hadn’t thought about that…but is that plan? No. Will it ever happen? I mean, never say never.”
Jericho responded with,”Cause I know that Dana White came out and said she wouldn’t be having a match,” which quickly earned a, “Yep,” from McMahon. She then said, “Well, we’ll see.”
McMahon also discussed her Twitter altercation with former WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee. As previously reported, Lee went after McMahon about how much time the Divas were given on WWE television, how much they’re paid, cuts of merchandise, and more on Twitter after McMahon had posted a tweet thanking Patricia Arquette for standing up for strong women, and that women needed to be looked at more equally with men.
After Lee had sent her thoughts to McMahon on the Social Media network, McMahon replied diplomatically, reportedly at the request of her father Vince McMahon, mainly because Lee was about to return to work for WrestleMania season. Stephanie was rumored to be extremely angered by Lee’s comments, though she claimed on “Live! with Chris Jericho” that she wasn’t.
She said that Lee’s comments didn’t piss her off, and she did respond diplomatically for business purposes, but overall, she was proud of Lee for speaking up and speaking her mind.
Jericho continued to ask about he #GiveDivasAChance movement, stating that he loves NXT and the women on that roster. He the asked McMahon if she believes that the NXT women could usher in their style of competition on the main roster soon, because it is different than what current Divas are doing, and McMahon said that she wants it to happen that way. She want the NXT women to main event main roster shows. She claims it has to be at the right time, but that she’s lobbying for it.
