According to new reports, several things have been edited from WrestleMania 31 and the 2015 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on the WWE Network. While some instances of profanity were edited out during the live broadcast, most notably from superstars competing in the ring, WWE has gone back and further censored and completely removed certain spots from both events.
As previously reported, WWE was not happy with certain things that were said during the 2015 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. Among some of the things they have now censored or removed, include the old WWF logo from Madusa’s (Alundra Blayze) old Women’s Championship belt, references to “WWF” in general, and Daniel Bryan’s reference to what the superstars do in the ring being “not real.”
John Cena even said that Bryan was right when he said that during his sit down with Chris Jericho following the April 6 edition of “Monday Night Raw” on the WWE Network, which could possibly get censored at some point as well. However, there was more removed from the Hall of Fame ceremony and WrestleMania 31 itself.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter discusses what WWE has removed from the events, saying,
“There was some editing done on the network after the fact regarding the Hall of Fame and Mania. Among the things we know of were all references to WWF, which they tried to catch during the Hall of Fame live. There were several sound edits even on the “live” show.
By the way, and this goes for most stuff like this because Fight Pass is the same way, but the network is about 30 seconds behind live. They edited The Rock’s crotch chop, Stephanie at one point stumbled over her words (this was so minor you’d barely notice but for a brief second she forgot it was SummerSlam when she met Rousey but it was like the split of a split second), they blurred the WWF logo on Madusa’s belt and at the Hall of Fame, when Bryan said that what we do isn’t real, that was edited out.
The company wasn’t happy the show went four hours so next year they are going to take steps to try and keep it to three hours, as was originally earmarked. Fans never complain about it going long, but it does bust the schedule.”
You can watch both events, and find these examples of censorship, on the WWE Network.
