Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar is being discussed for WrestleMania 31. In an early penciled in bout on the card, Reigns vs. Lesnar is being talked about backstage as the match that will launch Reigns as the next “John Cena” of the company.

The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims that Reigns is going to be elevated to “mega-star” status all the way to WrestleMania 31, which will be held in Santa Clara on March 29, 2015. Upon defeat of Lesnar, who conquered the Undertaker’s undefeated streak at WrestleMania XXX, Reigns would then take his seat on the WWE throne as the top guy, effectively allowing Cena to step down from the pedestal.

Cena will face Lesnar at “SummerSlam,” likely for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Lesnar is expected to be The Authority’s “Plan B” in removing the title off of Cena, although know one knows if Lensar will actually win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the event.

The issue many people have with Lesnar winning the strap is his part-time status. Lesnar currently only works three, maybe four Pay-Per-Views a year and about a dozen TV shows (on which he doesn’t wrestle). While WWE allowed The Rock, who was also under a part-time contract, hold the WWE Championship in 2013, he was only working three months. Lesnar is currently working the final year of his two-year extension, which will expire at WrestleMania 31 baring Lesnar does not sign a new contract.

Lesnar would have to renegotiate his deal to appear on WWE TV more if the company so wanted him to appear as WWE World Heavyweight Champion at every PPV between “SummerSlam” and WrestleMania 31. More dates equals more money for the Beast Incarnate.

That’s if, however, the company decides it wants to make Lesnar vs. Reigns a title match. Lesnar may not win the championship at “SummerSlam,” or at least, he may not make it to WrestleMania 31 as champion.

Reigns is scheduled to face Randy Orton at “SummerSlam,” which will then lead into a program with Triple H. The former Shield member and The Game stared each other down during the final moments of the June 30 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” teasing their future program, which will likely begin picking up steam at “Night of Champions” or “Hell In A Cell.” Reigns and Lesnar will cross paths in 2015, beginning in January more than likely.

Editor’s Note:
Awesome. That feud has money flowing all around it. Believe that.
