Chris Jericho to Face The Miz on July 7 Edition of "Monday Night Raw"

Chris Jericho returned to WWE on the June 30 edition of “Monday Night Raw” in surprising fashion. Despite rumors of his return just prior to the show going on the air, many still didn’t think we would see “Y2J.” Also prior to the show, Triple H and WWE.com teased the return of a former WWE Champion. The returning star was billed as a “cross-platform entertainer” who finds success outside of the squared circle. While Jericho did fit the description, many thought the safe choice for the star would be The Miz.

The returning star would indeed be The Miz. However, during his return promo, Chris Jericho’s signature pyro went off, signifying his return. Jeircho wasted no time in delivering a “Codebreaker” to Miz, spoiling his return. The following night, during “Smackdown” tapings, the two clashed again. (contains spoilers)

Coming out of tapings for the July 4 edition of “Smackdown” many websites are reporting that WWE has announced that The Miz and Chris Jericho will clash on “Monday Night Raw.” The match will be Miz’s first since his role in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania XXX. For Jericho, this will be his first match since the July 19 edition of “Smackdown” back in 2013.

Jericho is expected to remain with WWE through the Night of Champions pay-per-view. While his plans for “Battleground” are still not clear, “The Man of 1,0004 Holds” is slated to face Bray Wyatt at “SummerSlam.”

Editor’s Note

Despite being a part-time star, I love the fact that Jericho wrestles on both “Raw” and “Smackdown” upon his return. I wish the bigger part-time stars wrestled on television, but it is understandable why they don’t. It will be interesting to see what goes down in this match. It wouldn’t shock me to see these two square off at “Battleground.”
