Rob Van Dam has been announced by a couple of different independent wrestling promotions as a headliner for a couple of shows coming up in September. These announcements came mere hours from Van Dam’s last appearance for WWE during the Aug. 26 “Smackdown” tapings in Ontario, Canada.

Van Dam will headline “Legends of the Ring” on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Monroe, NJ. Event details and tickets are available at LegendsoftheRing.com. RVD has also been announced for Pro Wrestling Syndicate’s show, “All Fired Up,” which will also run on Sept. 20. Van Dam will make his appearance at “Legends of Wrestling 19” at 10 a.m. ET, and then make an appearance for Pro Wrestling Syndicate from 6-8 p.m. ET.

The official statement promoting Van Dam for both events reads,

Fresh off his latest TV tenure Rob Van Dam makes his Legends of the Ring debut on Saturday Sept 20,2014. Legends of the Ring takes place at the CROWNE PLAZA HOTEL- MONROE NJ (at the foot of NJTPK exit 8a) The appearance will begin at about 10:00am. Advanced tickets go on sale THIS Saturday morning at 10:00am. for the LOTR appearance only!
We will be releasing 25 “5 star VIP Packages” for LOTR which include 1 combo (1 auto and 1 photo op) and 5 autographs of RVD for 125.00 This marks RVD’s first LOTR appearance in the illustrious 10 year history of this event. www.legendsofthering.com

Later that evening RVD will be appearing at PRO WRESTLING SYNDICATE’S “ALL FIRED UP” EVENT
for their pre match meet and greet from 6:00-8:00 only! This event will take place at the Rahway Rec Center 275 E. Milton ave in Rahway, NJ.

As you can see, Van Dam is listed as an appearance, not as a worker. This could be because he is still under contract with WWE, and while the company is allowing him to make appearances during his time off of television, they will not allow him to be promoted as a competitor.

Van Dam is not expected to return to WWE until possibly the 2015 “Royal Rumble” PPV.

Editor’s Note:
Go get some autographs folks!
