According to a new report from “Figure Four Daily” via F4Wonline.com, Rey Mysterio has been invited to AAA’s “TripleMania” event on Aug. 17. Steve “Dr. Lucha” Sims reports that Mysterio has been invited and might even show up at the event, even though “SummerSlam” will be taking place on the same night in Los Angeles.
Mysterio is still currently under contract with WWE. Even though multiple reports claimed that Mysterio was not planning on re-signing a deal with WWE once his expired in 2014, Vince McMahon opted to use a clause in Mysterio’s contract to extend his deal further than the date it was originally slated to expire.
McMahon feels Mysterio owes WWE time for the amount of days he’s been unable to compete due to injury. However, recent reports claim Mysterio is possibly taking legal action to get out of the contract extension.
If Mysterio should appear at “TripleMania,” it should be noted that under contract with WWE, he cannot compete for the organization. He may appear as a special guest, but even that is unlikely, regardless of the invitation. Rumors have been surrounding Mysterio recently in regards to him wanting to move from WWE to AAA as soon as possible, just as recently released WWE superstar Alberto Del Rio has.
Del Rio was fired on Aug. 7 for slapping a WWE Social Media Director to the ground during the Aug. 5 “Smackdown” tapings. On Aug. 13, Del Rio publicly announced via an AAA official video promo, that he would be returning to the organization, who he competed for prior to working for WWE.
During the video, Del Rio claims “the boss is back home,” and he will be appearing for the company on Aug. 17 during “TripleMania.” Fellow released WWE superstar and former ring announcer for Del Rio, Ricardo Rodriguez, is also set to debut for AAA very soon.
Editor’s Note:
What a slap in the face to WWE it would be if Mysterio shows up at “TripleMania” instead of attending the PPV event being held by the company he is signed to.
