Triple H does not want Kurt Angle in WWE. The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter featured a report that claims Angle has reached out to both Triple H and Vince McMahon in regards to returning to the company that established the Olympic hero as a professional wrestler, but neither are interested.
As previously reported, Angle has been saying publicly that when his TNA contract expires on Sept. 21, he would love to finish his career working for World Wrestling Entertainment. However, Dave Meltzer claims that Angle was “blown off” by Triple H when he approached him about returning. He writes,
“Kurt Angle made inquiries recently about coming in and was pretty much blown off. Mark Madden reported, and we were able to confirm with a couple of sources, that Angle spoke to HHH and was pretty much blown off. Angle then called Vince McMahon, but McMahon, playing good cop/bad cop, said that HHH makes the talent decisions.
Madden reported that HHH wasn’t happy that Angle tried to go over his head. Angle pushed the idea of returning on a schedule similar to what Michaels worked his last several years, where he’d come in for specific shows and work very limited house show dates.”
As reported, Angle turned down a contract extension from TNA Wrestling, solely on the belief that he believed he would be able to return to WWE and finish out his career in the company that made him. However, McMahon really doesn’t want the risk of anything happening to Angle under the umbrella of WWE, as a tragic death or arrest reports that involve an Olympic hero would bring seriously unwanted press during a time when public praise is desired for the company.
Angle may one day be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, but the WWE Universe may never see Angle compete inside of a WWE ring ever again.
