New reports have provided potential spoilers for the May 18 edition of “Monday Night Raw” set to air on the USA Network at 8 p.m. EST. As previously reported, WWE added a second Pay-Per-View to their May calendar on May 11, causing the company to scramble and work overtime to plan the event. “RAW” on May 18 and May 21’s edition of “Smackdown” will build towards the added May 31 PPV, WWE “Elimination Chamber.”
According to PWInsider.com, WWE had planned on running angles during the May 18 edition of “RAW” featuring NXT superstars in order to promote NXT’s upcoming WWE Network special, “NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable.” However, with WWE now needing both editions of “RAW” leading up to “Elimination Chamber” to build towards the event, plans for NXT promotion may have been scrapped.
John Cena’s opponent for “Elimination Chamber” is rumored to identify himself during the May 18 edition of “RAW.” Cena will defend the United States Championship at the PPV on May 31, though the match will not likely take place inside the chamber itself.
The Intercontinental Championship will be contested inside of the Elimination Chamber. All six competitors are rumored to be announced during the May 18 edition of “RAW.” Daniel Bryan vacated the title during the May 11 edition of “RAW” after doctors told him he may never wrestle again.
While there will be an announcement about the IC title contestants, Sheamus is still slated to be the next Intercontinental Champion. Advertisements for upcoming WWE Live Events are still promoting Sheamus as the man who holds the IC gold.
The opponents for the WWE Tag Team Championship Elimination Chamber Match are also rumored to be confirmed in full during the May 18 edition of “RAW.”
Editor’s Note:
WWE only has 2 weeks to promote “Elimination Chamber.” They’re going to HAVE to solidify at least 75% of the card during “RAW” on May 18.
