Multiple sources are reporting that NWA legend “Fabulous One” Jackie Fargo has passed away at 85 years old. Fargo had been battling congenital heart disease and lost the fight Monday morning after being in critical condition for a week.
Fargo’s legacy labels him one of the greatest wrestlers to ever work in the NWA, where he competed from the 1950’s until the 1980’s, when he retired from active wrestling and became a manger until he completely stepped away from the business. He was one of wrestling’s mainstays in NWA’s Mid-America territory, where he wrestled and mentored other legends such as Jerry “The King” Lawler and “The Fabulous Ones”. Upon hearing the news of Fargo’s death, Lawler sent out these tweets…
My friend, father-figure and mentor, Jackie Fargo died this morning. He was the best! pic.twitter.com/1YL56czzCz

Without the Fabulous Jackie Fargo, there would never have been a King Jerry Lawler. RIP Jackie. pic.twitter.com/29C9bEg06z

Fargo is also known for creating the infamous “Fargo Strut,” that you’ve seen used by the “Nature Boy” Ric Flair, Jeff Jarrett, and the Fabulous Ones.
WrestlingRumors.net expresses our condolences to the Fargo family.
