News on The Undertaker’s WWE Status

The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided news on The Undertaker’s WWE status and whether or not The Phenom will be returning to active competition anytime soon. The Deadman himself when asked recently if he will be returning for WrestleMania 31 has claimed that, “it’s not looking good.” 

Undertaker suffered a severe concussion, among other injuries, in his first loss in 22 WrestleMania appearances on April 6 in New Orleans at WrestleMania XXX. His opponent, Brock Lesnar, has now been deemed the man who conquered the greatest streak in Sports Entertainment history.

Following the match, Undertaker collapsed backstage and was rushed via ambulance to a medical facility in New Orleans. With the number of surgeries and injuries he has suffered in recent years, many in the company believe that The Deadman may have wrestled his last match for the company on that fateful night when he lost to Lesnar.

Although he has recovered from the injuries suffered on April 6 and has returned to the gym, even The Phenom himself believes that a return may not be likely. Prior to losing that match at WrestleMania XXX, ‘Taker was rumored to be facing Sting at WrestleMania 31. The match was supposedly going to be Sting’s one match for WWE before he retires in 2015. However, with ‘Taker’s status for a return up-in-the-air, Sting’s contract with WWE has not been finalized, and the match has all but been placed on the back burner.

Undertaker does this every year. He’ll tell people he’s likely not coming back, then prepares for a return, and competes at WrestleMania. However, with the streak vanquished…what would he be coming back for? Lesnar? Seems about right.
