PWInsider.com has provided more news on Batista’s WWE status and why the company didn’t promote “Guardians of the Galaxy” much in a new report. As previously noted, many within WWE do not see Batista returning to the company following the success of the film.

According to a source for PWInsider, WWE seemingly ignored the fact that Batista was going to be in “Guardians of the Galaxy,” and that the movie was a box-office smash, was due to his lack of appearance on WWE television. The company had Batista “quit” so that he could go promote for the film, however, it would also mean the company would not have to talk about him much while he was gone.

WWE wanted Marvel producers to buy a good amount of air time originally to promote the film, but Marvel didn’t want to do that. According to sources, many in WWE believe that Marvel didn’t want the movie to be viewed as some, “wrestler movie.” When Batista was signed at the beginning of the year, WWE executives believed that Batista’s return to the company would be beneficial in two ways; for them, and for Marvel. However, Marvel looked at the situation differently and opted not to get heavily involved with the company, much to the disappointment of WWE officials.

Following the success of the film, it is being discussed that WWE downplayed the movie and Batista’s role because many seriously doubt if he will return anytime soon. If Batista does not return, then he would simply have to follow CM Punk’s example and sit out the rest of his contract. It was reported that Batista signed a two-year deal with WWE in January, which would keep him in the ring until 2016.

Editor’s Note:
Speculation, speculation, speculation. This is ALL speculation from PWInsider. No one knows for sure what Batista is going to do but Batista. I personally think he’ll be back. He signed the contract, and has said he will return soon, so.
