Kurt Angle Reportedly Misled and “Swerved” Regarding the Return of Jeff and Karen Jarrett
The personal issues between TNA World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle and former TNA World Heavyweight Champion Jeff Jarrett have been well documented. Angle’s ex-wife is now Jarrett’s current bride, Karen, and their real-life relational drama has unfolded behind closed doors and in front of television cameras over the years.
As previously reported, Jeff and Karen Jarrett showed up during the June 24 “IMPACT WRESTLING” tapings in Orlando, shocking the wrestling community. Jarrett’s departure from TNA Wrestling was not a very happy one, as both parties had ill feelings after he was removed from his position.
However, he came to the ring with his wife during “IMPACT” and claimed that TNA asked him to make a return and compete in the promotion’s King of the Mountain match at “Slammiversary” on June 28. Although he did wear a Global Force Wrestling t-shirt, and he did talk about his new promotion GFW during his appearance, he and Karen more-so delivered a shoot promo about his departure, Angle, and why he’s going to compete in the King of the Mountain match.
According to a backstage TNA source that brought this information to WrestlingRumors.net, Angle was taken by surprise by the promos that Jeff and Karen delivered during the June 24 edition of “IMPACT WRESTLING.” He was also surprised that the Jarretts brought Kurt and Karen’s kids to the event without informing him that they would be backstage prior to the tapings.
The Jarretts had previously told Angle that they would be there to promote GFW, and that there would be no TNA involvement, so when they announced that Jarrett would be competing on the “Slammiversary” card, Angle felt misled and like the victim of a swerve. The fans in attendance and a lot of the boys in the locker room then felt super awkward after the promos were delivered and Angle was mentioned.
Angle feels as if he wasn’t taken into consideration by TNA or the Jarrett’s after this happened and apparently things remain to be awkward and unresolved.
Editor’s Note:
Wow. I can’t believe they wouldn’t tell Kurt his kids were coming…OR that Jeff was going to be working the King of the Mountain match. That is NOT the way to do business when personal issues have existed for a while.
