Kevin Owens Removed from Upcoming WWE Live Events
NXT Champion Kevin Owens has been removed from the upcoming weekend’s WWE Live Events, which were slated to be his first official weekend doing such house shows. Owens was originally place on the card opposite United States Champion John Cena, taking the injured Rusev’s spot in the process.
For reasons currently unknown, Owens has been removed from the June 5-7 Live Events, and has been replaced with King Barrett. Owens vs. Cena is expected to continue throughout the Summer each weekend in other WWE Live Events, as well as WWE Pay-Per-Views “Money In The Bank” and “Battleground.”
Shows in Jackson, Mississippi, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Lake Charles, Los Angeles that previously listed Owens now list Barrett, who is assumed to now be facing Cena on the card. WWE Champion Seth Rollins, Randy Orton, Bray Wyatt, and WWE Intercontinental Champion Ryback are all also scheduled to appear.
Owens defeated Cena clean for his first victory (and first match) in WWE at the “Elimination Chamber” PPV on May 31. After signing a full-time WWE contract, Owens is expected to slowly be removed from NXT Live Events, and added to WWE ones instead, then be removed from the NXT roster all together. It’s assumed that Owens will either lose the NXT Championship to Finn Bálor on July 4 during a WWE Network special set to air live from Japan, or to Samoa Joe at the next “NXT TakeOver” event.
Editor’s Note:
I wonder why he was pulled from this weekend’s shows. I hope all is well with him.
