Fan reports from Atlanta, Georgia, home to the Oct. 13 edition of “Monday Night Raw,” claim that former WWE ring announcer Justin Roberts was shouting and making obscene hand gestures to color commentator Michael Cole during the broadcast. Fans in attendance of the event posted reports on Social Media during and following “RAW,” saying that Roberts could be seen “flipping off” Cole during Dolph Ziggler and Randy Orton’s match, which is notable due to Roberts’ release immediately following the program.

Roberts was officially “future endeavored” on WWE.com shortly after “Monday Night Raw” went off-the-air on Oct. 13. WWE claims the company was exercising their right to not renew Roberts’ recently expired contract with the organization, however many believe something must have happened behind-the-scenes to cause his release.

Kevin Dunn was Roberts’ superior and controls all things related to WWE television, so it was likely his call that Roberts would not be re-signed. This could mean Dunn wants to go a different direction in terms of ring announcing, or he just didn’t like Roberts’ presentation on the mic.

Many backstage were shocked at the announcement, and believe Roberts’ departure is a big mistake. Roberts has been a poster child for all things World Wrestling Entertainment, and is extremely passionate about professional wrestling and his role in the business as an announcer, and better yet, a fan.

Rumors state that Roberts and Cole have never been each other’s biggest fan. Cole repeatedly would make sly remarks in regards to Roberts’ announcing abilities on-air. With fan reports claiming Roberts could be seen and heard during his tirade against Cole on Oct. 13 during “RAW,” Roberts could have been reacting to something said to him at ringside, or he could have known this was his last show and he wanted to be seen defending himself to Cole by fans.

Seems like until Roberts makes a statement regarding his release, everything should be taken with a grain of salt. WrestlingRumors.net will keep you updated as more details on this story become available.

Editor’s Note:
This thing is growing legs. Someone needs to tell the real story before rumors get WAY out of hand. If Cole did have something to do with it, what would be his purpose? Just not liking the guy? Weird. A lot more to this story than anyone is being told right now.
