Intercontinental Championship Triple-Threat Match Set for WWE “Battleground”

Ryback will defend his Intercontinental Championship at WWE “Battleground” on July 19. The bout will be a Triple-Threat Match, and Ryback will face Big Show and The Miz at the July Pay-Per-View event.

WWE has made the announcement of the match official, after the bout was rumored for the event for weeks. Miz will add an element that lacked during the initial IC Title bout between Ryback and Big Show at “Money In The Bank” on June 14.

WWE writes the following,

“Tensions between these three competitors have been escalating ever since Big Show returned to WWE several weeks ago to challenge Ryback for the Intercontinental Title, superseding Miz in the process. Since then, The A-lister has been both a victim of circumstance and instigator of irritation as all three Superstars’ paths continue to intertwine, or, more fittingly, interfere with one another’s.

At WWE Money in the Bank, The Big Guy had a championship clash with The World’s Largest Athlete. Miz, who was at ringside doing guest commentary, could not help but insert himself into the match, ultimately attacking both competitors, leading to a controversial disqualification win for Big Show. Matters were then made worse the next night on Raw when Miz defeated the giant by count-out, once again because of a ringside distraction, this time caused by The Human Wrecking Ball.

Thus, with the issues between the triad of Superstars clearly not calming and one-on-one contests proving to be ineffective, the playing field will potentially be leveled by simultaneously placing all three men onto the Battleground with the title on the line.

Will Ryback be at a severe disadvantage when he does not even have to be involved in the fall to lose his Intercontinental Championship? Or will the combustible elements of Big Show and Miz cancel each other out and give the champion an entry point for an impressive victory?”

This makes the “Battleground” card look as follows,

Seth Rollins (c) vs. Brock Lesnar (w/ Paul Heyman)

Ryback (c) vs. Big Show vs. The Miz
