A new report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter claims that Goldberg will probably not compete at WrestleMania XXX in New Orleans. Negotiations between WWE and Bill Goldberg have reportedly been on-going, but the two parties cannot seem to agree on monetary terms just yet.
Initially, Goldberg was rumored to be one of the former WWE talents that CEO Vince McMahon wanted to bring back to the company for a match at the thirtieth anniversary of WrestleMania, which will be held on April 6. The match that was presented to the past WWE Champion was Ryback vs. Goldberg, as Ryback has constantly been compared to Goldberg since his character debuted on WWE television.
Upon the rumors of WWE discussing this match backstage hitting the internet, Ryback even began campaigning for it in various forms. He made a lot of comments towards Goldberg and the WWE Universe about the situation, as well as using Goldberg’s trademark signature moves, the Spear and the JackHammer, on live WWE TV and at WWE Live Events. Him using these moves and his comments on Twitter caused some unwanted backstage heat on Ryback, due to Goldberg not yet agreeing to a contract and not signing off on the match, and the idea of this match is almost completely dead in the eyes of the company.
The reason this idea has all but been scraped is mainly due to money. Goldberg and WWE are on two different pages when it comes to what each side believes the former champion should be paid for a one-off match at WrestleMania XXX. The idea of having him appear, or even work a match (with possibly Ryback), has not been completely discarded. However, the two will have to come to terms on what Goldberg will be paid, or else he will not be asking “who’s next?” on April 6.
