A new report from PWInsider.com has revealed further details regarding Batista’s WWE return. As we previously reported, the six-time former WWE/World Champion will be returning to the WWE in a few weeks, more specifically on January 20th during the Royal Rumble “Go-Home” edition of “Monday Night Raw.”
According to the report, Triple H and Batista have been working out the details for his new WWE contract for several weeks. Word is Triple H and Vince McMahon were really high on having “The Animal” return as a key player during WrestleMania XXX season. Reportedly, Batista will be working “RAW” and “Smackdown” tapings, multiple pay-per-views, and even some house shows leading up to WrestleMania, much like Rob Van Dam did during his last run with the company. His deal could see him working this kind of schedule until sometime shortly after WrestleMania XXX.
The company’s original idea for Batista’s return was to have him be a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble. However, someone in the WWE reportedly sent out promotional materials for the “WWE Road to WrestleMania Live Event Tour” to local venues that will be housing the events too early, and Batista was listed as a returning superstar. Those materials were not to be sent out until after the Royal Rumble on January 26th. Once the story hit the internet last weekend, the WWE scrambled and decided to announce that he will be returning during the “RAW” prior to the Rumble.
As we reported on December 20th, a venue in Las Vegas was one of the locations that prematurely advertised Batista’s return. WWE officials, especially Triple H and Vince McMahon, are very upset that their surprise got ruined. One source from within the WWE stated that if McMahon had not been overseas visiting troops when the news broke that the information had been leaked, he probably would have killed someone in house.
Batista is said to be in great shape and ready for a fully booked, part-time return.
