Former WWE Champion CM Punk recently sat down with Laurence Holmes of CBS Chicago to talk hockey, baseball, wrestling, backstage relationships, and Comic Con appearances. Here are some notable quotes from the interview:
On feeling “normal” in the wrestling business:
“Normal is a very relative term my friend. I don’t know, I get older and I’m more aware of certain aspects of my body, but I think honestly it’s more of a mindset, you know? I’m not going to say wrestling is harder than football, or hockey’s harder than wrestling, or anything like that, but you’d be hard pressed to find a schedule in professional sports that’s harder than what we do, but I’m not complaining. This is what we sign up for…I don’t know what normal is anymore. I think normal for me is going just out there and making sure I can entertain the fans no matter what.”
On meeting Brock Lesnar and what their relationship is like backstage:
“There are a lot of people back there who say me and Brock are very very similar. Unapproachable, bad attitude. A kind of cloud hanging over our heads. But to me, he’s a sweetheart. I have no bad stories about Brock, yet.”
On his relationship with Vince McMahon:
“The relationship is certainly different and that’s something that’s always evolving. My relationship with Vince today is different than it was in April. It’s something that constantly changes.”
