WrestlingRumors.net previously reported that the American Wolves, Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards, should be appearing during Thursday night’s NXT tapings. In that report, we also mention that the Ring of Honor tag team has not yet been offered an official WWE contract. In related news, a new report from PWInsider.com has provided a backstage update on the American Wolves being used in the WWE.
As we previously stated, multiple reports claimed that the duo did not receive a WWE contract following their try-out because WWE COO Triple H felt that they were too similar to Sami Callihan, Sami Zayn, Daniel Bryan or CM Punk. His feeling is that the company already has enough “indie-looking” guys. One previous report from WrestlingInc.com claimed that Triple H even said, “we have enough Tyson Kidds.”
PWinsider.com claims that Richards and Edwards are not only appearing at NXT tapings Thursday night, but that they have been at the WWE Performance Center all week having another tryout. According to reports, William Regal went to Triple H and fought for the Wolves, arguing that they are an experienced tag team (which Triple H wants more of) and that they deserve another look.
Many believe that Edwards and Richards will at least be signed to a short three-month NXT deal following this week’s work-outs.
