Curtis Axel will face Big E. Langston for the Intercontinental Championship at Survivor Series this Sunday, November 24th on Pay-Per-View. The re-match from “RAW Country,” which saw Langston defeat Axel for his first major WWE championship, was announced Wednesday during WWE COO Triple H’s weekly sit-down interview with Michael Cole.

Triple H stated in the interview that the Intercontinental Championship is a stepping stone to bigger things for guys in the WWE, if they strive to be the best. He references himself, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, and the Rock as people who have used that title as a launch pad into superstardom. He then brags about NXT creating talent such as Langston and Axel, as well as new comer Xaiver Woods, and the Shield.

This will be Langston’s first Intercontinental Championship defense at Survivor Series, as the new champion has only held the IC strap for merely three days at this point.
