New reports have provided some backstage news on Seth Rollins’ Curb Stomp and if it is actually “banned” from being used anymore. As previously reported, it was believed that Rollins’ signature maneuver was being blacklisted by the company due to the appearance of recklessness it portrays when it comes to head injuries.
Justin LaBar of TribSportsRadio and WrestleZone.com broke the story on April 20, stating that WWE is banning the Curb Stomp, which is why Rollins had not performed the move in over a week and why his Titantron video had every image of the action removed from it. However, Dave Meltzer of “Wrestling Observer Radio” claims the move is not banned, but the company does not want Rollins doing it regularly.
Metlzer claims that Rollins not using the Curb Stomp is a “semantic situation.” As noted by the lack of comment about this situation on WWE.com and during “Monday Night Raw,” WWE does not want to discuss the fact that Rollins isn’t using the Curb Stomp anymore, they just want him to quietly move to a new finish.
During the April 20 edition of “RAW,” Rollins used a headlock-facebuster as his finish against Dolph Ziggler. While there was no name given to the maneuver at that time, this seems to be what the company will be using with Rollins moving forward.
The Phoenix Splash that Rollins performed at the 2015 “Royal Rumble” PPV is believed to be too much of a “babyface” finish, so the company only wants him to use it sparingly for the time being. The Curb Stomp will also be allowed to be used by Rollins on special occasion, likely after WWE is out of the woods in regards to lawsuits against them from former superstars which focus on concussions, head injuries, and the company’s heartless desire to make injured superstars continue to compete.
Editor’s Note:
So it’s not banned…they just don’t want him using 11 a show like usual, and he’ll likely only use it during “Big 4” PPVs.
