Multiple sources are reporting the latest news on CM Punk and his WWE return, stating that WWE officials are keeping any plans or creative ideas for his return very quiet. The healing of Punk’s injured knee will be the ultimate factor in determining when he will compete again, but the WWE would love for him to work the June Pay-Per-View “Payback,” as it will be emanating from Punk’s home town of Chicago, IL. He was originally scheduled to appear on Monday Night Raw Monday, May 20th and May 27th, but was then removed from all summer shows. If he is going to work the June PPV, he would need to return soon to set up a match.
Punk last competed in a match against the Undertaker at WrestleMania 29. He then “walked out” of the WWE one week later in Greenville, SC, following an in-ring promo. Punk had been suffering from nagging injuries for months prior to WrestleMania, then further aggravated a knee injury during his spot with “the dead man” in which he leaped from the top rope with an elbow and landed awkwardly onto the Spanish announce table. It is uncertain when he will return, but it is likely that the WWE will keep it a secret as to when they will put the “Straight Edge Superstar” back on television.
