The long-awaited and much anticipated partnership between WWE and ESPN is finally a reality.
On the 9 PM EST edition of ESPN’s flagship program, “SportsCenter,” Jonathan Coachman gave a review of the events of last night’s “Monday Night Raw” from Chicago, and recapped various segments of the show, including Kane giving the tombstone to WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns giving the drive-by to Braun Strowman, and more. He then gave out awards for his top match of the night, which was John Cena’s US Open Challenge match with Dolph Ziggler, the “one-liner” of the night to Xavier Woods for his comment on Chicago Bulls superstar Derrick Rose, and the top move of the night to Reigns’ superman punch to Strowman and Luke Harper.
Rollins would then make an appearance via satellite, and asked why he wasn’t mentioned in the top moments of the night. He called himself the Tom Brady or the New England Patriots of WWE, and said that everyone is jealous of him. When asked if he thought there should be an age requirement in wrestling, like in other sports, Rollins said that he doesn’t think that there should be, and that people should be able to pursue their passion at any age. They then talked about Chase Utley breaking Reuben Tejada’s leg by sliding into him on Saturday night, and Rollins said that he thought that accidents happen, and that it wasn’t intentional.
This new segment will air on Tuesday evenings on “SportsCenter,” and will feature Coachman breaking down all of the major events happening in the world of WWE.
Editor’s Note:
YAHOO!! This partnership is huge for WWE, as it gives them even more credibility in mainstream media. With all of their cross promotion that has been happening recently, it only makes sense for the company to take full advantage of the momentum and try to gain as much exposure for their product as possible.
