The title was vacated by Rhea Ripley, who was injured a couple of weeks ago following a backstage brawl with Liv Morgan.
Editor’s Opinion:
While I understand why fans were upset, this decision makes sense. Lynch was Ripley’s opponent at WrestleMania, so sliding her into a championship role makes for natural and seamless storytelling. Plus, it allows Morgan to continue to be on her revenge tour and chase the championship. When she finally wins the title, it will be a much bigger payoff and will make for a bigger moment for her and the fans. That being said, WWE has pivoted in the past when they made a decision that was not popular with fans, so we’ll see what they decide to do with this.
