NXT UK superstar Toni Storm was recently interviewed by Metro Sport, where she discussed a number of topics. Among them were her first professional wrestling match, who she thinks are the best wrestlers in the world, the best and worst advice she’s received and more.
Below are some questions, along with Storm’s answers:
What are your memories of your first match?
I was 13-years-old and a lot smaller than I am now! I was absolutely terrified and it was in front of hardly any people. I think I got paid with a hot dog and a can of soft drink.
Real talk… Who is the best wrestler in the world right now?
That is such a tough one right now! You’ve got the likes of Daniel Bryan and Finn Balor, but I’ll tell you who’s coming up right now who’s going to take that soon, Pete Dunne! I think he’s on his way to becoming the best in the world. He knows exactly what he’s doing, he’s an absolute professional and has been doing it since he was a kid. He’s just fantastic.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received in wrestling?
I’ve been given a lot, but probably the most useful is to look after myself and to take care of health first. You’ve got one body and sometimes I forget that fact, but you’ve got to take care of it otherwise you have nothing.
And what’s the worst?
When I first started out I wasn’t necessarily working for the most professional of companies. I wasn’t in the big leagues, so I was constantly told to do the silliest matches, take the hardest bumps, and I went and did it. I really could have done with better advice when I was younger!
