WWE Hall of Famer “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka has been arrested for a crime that was committed nearly three decades ago.
It is believed that Snuka, 72, attacked and killed Argentino in a motel in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She suffered traumatic brain injuries, as well as two dozen cuts and bruises all over her body.
The case was re-opened last year after a new autopsy revealed her death to be a homicide. Her family won a a wrongful death lawsuit in 1985 for $500,000, but Snuka was unable to pay the fees because he was broke and was not able to afford legal counsel.
Snuka was arrested this morning, and has since posted bail, which was set at $100,000.
WWE issued the following statement on the incident:
“WWE expresses its continued sympathy to the Argentino family for their loss. Ultimately this legal matter will be decided by our judicial system.”
“Superfly” Jimmy Snuka was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 1996 following an illustrious career. He was known as one of the first superstars to take high risks, including leaping off the top of a steel cage at Madison Square Garden.
His daughter Tamina Snuka is a current member of the WWE roster.
