According to the report, WWE has come under scrutiny for bullying; mostly due to the sudden departure of “Smackdown Live” commentator Mauro Ranallo from the company. It has been said that the onscreen rivalry between Ranallo and his fellow broadcast colleague John Bradshaw Layfield (JBL) is in fact, real.
These accusations have been heightened following the release of a new book by former WWE employee Justin Roberts, entitled “Best Seat in the House.”
In the book, Roberts says that he was constantly bullied by JBL while he was with the company. He recalls an incident where JBL asked two wrestlers to steal his passport while WWE was on an overseas tour.
In addition, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that at least 15 former WWE employees have contacted him and told him that they were bullied by JBL.
We will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they become available to us.
Editor’s Note:
I hope that this story doesn’t end up being true. There is no place for bullying in any workplace, and we must remember that the actions of a person may be interpreted in a different manner by two separate people.
