This is only a rumor, so take it for what it’s worth.
According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Daniel Bryan has still not signed a new deal with WWE. This means that his current contract is set to expire in less than 30 days, on September 1, 2018.
It had been previously reported that Bryan was transitioning to a part-time schedule, and WWE seems to be following through with that promise. This is due to the fact that the company has removed him from weekend shows to lighten his schedule, as he had asked.
However, WWE officials are frustrated with Bryan not having a new deal in place. According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, this is one of the reasons why he had such a personal segment with The Miz on Smackdown Live this past week.

Editor’s Opinion:
I’m not sure if I believe this to be true; my gut tells me that Bryan and WWE are simply still negotiating the appropriate terms to make both parties happy. With a major match with The Miz looming at Summerslam, as well as future marquee matches down the road, I can’t see any reason for him not to re-sign with the company.
