This is only a rumor, so take it for what it’s worth. One of the major stories in professional wrestling this week was the debut of Cain Velasquez in WWE on Smackdown Live. However, this appearance has led many to question his future in the world of MMA and UFC.
According to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it appears that Velasquez’s fighting career is over as he contacted USADA and has pulled out of the drug-testing program. That means if he would want to return to MMA, he’d have to pass tests for six months before he could fight.
Because they rarely test fighters who don’t have an upcoming fight, many fighters retire and stay in the program, like Georges St-Pierre and Urijah Faber. Velasquez making this move means at least for six months, he’s shutting the door on MMA and going full-time into pro wrestling.
People are really digging what this monster can do:
Editor’s Opinion:
Why wouldn’t he want to go full time into professional wrestling? Brock Lesnar did the same thing a few years ago, when he went on ESPN and said that he could make more money and put his body through less by choosing pro wrestling over MMA. Makes sense to me.
