However, there have been certain duos that have exemplified a special chemistry, and have provided incredible moments both in and out of the ring. For whatever reason, their chemistry extends beyond their normal personalities as performers and has created a unique opportunity to advance their characters to the next level.
Therefore, in my opinion, certain “Mixed Match Challenge” teams should either stay together, or at least be in an alliance after the tournament has concluded.
Now, I’m certainly not suggesting that the following pairs should stay as a tag team, or become a “storyline couple” or anything like that. However, I do believe that certain teams should continue to be in an alliance, because the chemistry between them is just too remarkable in every way.
Also, I am not going to count the married teams (Rusev & Lana and Jimmy Uso & Naomi) for obvious reasons.
Let’s take a look at a few of these teams:
Alexa Bliss & Braun Strowman: This is a no-brainer to me. From their training videos of Braun trying to teach Alexa to flip a car, to their interview following their first victory, this team plays off of each other better than I could have possibly imagined. In addition, they both claim to be the both dominant forces in their divisions on “Raw,” and therefore, have similar goals and ideals within WWE.
Together, they could help each other run roughshod on the Red Brand, and be the top duo in the entire company.
The Miz & Asuka: While this would only work if Asuka turned heel somehow, this could be a team that would dominate “Raw” for a very long time. The Miz is arguably the best heel in the entire company, and Asuka has been touted as perhaps the most dominant woman in WWE ever since her debut at “NXT Takeover: Dallas” in 2015.
However, their promotional videos have been incredible, as their charisma as individuals blends together unbelievably well. I would love to see these two work together again in the future, and think they could be one of the most entertaining duos that WWE has seen in a long time.
Finn Balor & Sasha Banks: Sasha Banks as a member of “Balor Club.” Cue the internet going absolutely berserk. Enough said.
Apollo Crews & Nia Jax: Before you criticize me on this one, hear me out. It’s no secret that Apollo Crews is incredibly gifted in the ring and is a tremendous athlete in every single way. However, as an individual, he struggles with his promo skills, which is why I believe he was placed as a member of the “Titus Brand.” If he ended up with Nia Jax, who is good both in and outside of the ring, it could do wonders for his career, and give him the boost that he needs.
Either that, or have Nia join the “Titus Brand.” I would love that also!
I just noticed that the only teams that I have mentioned are representing “Raw.” Interesting.
Now, while I don’t think that any of these teams will stay together following the “Mixed Match Challenge,” it still is fun to think about. The potential storylines that open up by keeping some of these teams together could be a lot of fun, and would create new opportunities for these performers to explore different sides of their personalities!
Either that, or they would just make the WWE Universe laugh. And who doesn’t love that?
