New Intercontinental Champion Crowned on “Smackdown Live”

The “A-Lister” has once again proven why he is just that.

Tonight, on the 900th episode of “Smackdown Live,” The Miz defeated Dolph Ziggler to win the Intercontinental Championship. This marks the beginning of Miz’s sixth reign with the title.

The Spirit Squad came down to ringside during the match and attempted to distract Ziggler on Miz’s behalf. Although this plan backfired, the finish came when Maryse pushed her husband on top of Ziggler in a reversal of a roll-up to win the championship.

The Miz will now go on to “Survivor Series” and defend his newly won title against Sami Zayn from “Monday Night Raw.” If Zayn is victorious, then he brings the Intercontinental Championship to “Raw” with him.

I have to admit that I was completely shocked by this one. I had predicted that there would be some sort of goofy finish to get both Miz and Ziggler involved in the Intercontinental Championship match. That being said, what “The A-Lister” has done with this title over the last six months has been nothing short of incredible. He has given it more relevance than it has had in the a long time.
