It was announced on tonight’s edition of WWE’s reality series “Tough Enough”, that John Cena will be making an appearance on next week’s show. This is Cena’s first advertised TV appearance after undergoing emergency nose surgery following his match with Seth Rollins on the July 27 edition of “Monday Night RAW”. During that match, Rollins delivered a stiff knee to Cena’s nose, shattering it and causing him to bleed immediately.
“Tough Enough” has come under heavy criticism this season, and has created a conflict of interest between the fans and WWE officials. Several current and former personalities have expressed negative feelings towards the show, such as Corey Graves, Seth Rollins and Mick Foley. In addition, one of the most popular contestants, ZZ, continues to receive high praise from the WWE Universe, even though WWE officials reportedly want him off of the show. They have also undergone an awkward judging change, with The Miz taking over for Hulk Hogan.
Cena’s appearance on the show will undoubtedly give a boost to the ratings and give the contestants the unique opportunity to interact with WWE’s top star. He is currently scheduled to face Seth Rollins in a “title-for-title” match at this year’s “SummerSlam”.
Editor’s Note:
While it will be good for us to see John Cena appear on TV again, I don’t think that even he can save this show. In my opinion, the format is terrible, the challenges really don’t mean anything, and the I don’t see any one of the contestants being able to contribute to the brand, even in NXT.
