From the wrestling ring to the gridiron? It had been previously reported that Gable Steveson was among several talent that was released by WWE earlier this week. But what is next for the former Olympic gold medalist?
On a recent episode of “The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani,” the host read a statement from Steveson’s agent Dave Martin, which reads as follows:
“Gable Steveson is very grateful for the opportunities he had with WWE and would like to thank everybody in the organization who helped him get there. He would also like to thank the fans who supported him on his professional wrestling journey. Now, Gable is ready to resume competing against elite-level competition and looks forward to sharing big news with you all very soon.
Multiple NFL teams have reached out to Gable Steveson. He has also been training at Kill Cliff FC with Henri Hooft and Robbie Lawler. There is no shortage of opportunities to compete.”

Steveson signed an NIL deal with WWE in 2021 and was used sporadically in WWE and NXT, including an appearance at WrestleMania.
Editor’s Opinion:
This doesn’t surprise me, as he has a ton of power and speed. If he doesn’t make it in the NFL, I could certainly see him playing in the CFL or UFL; either way, if he wants to play professional football, the opportunity will definitely be there.
