When Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather competed against each other in August of this year, people were really interested in seeing it.

So much so, in fact, that a record number of people were willing to pay for it.

According to a new report from Brian Campbell of CBS Sports, Showtime Sports confirmed that there were 4.3 million pay-per-views for the fight. The information was reported in a tweet, which you can see below:

As seen in the tweet, the Mayweather/McGregor fight garnered the second highest number of buys of all time, behind the Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao fight from 2015.

Billed as one of the most hyped fights of all time, the two competed in a classic for the ages. In the end, the boxer defeated the fighter by TKO, at 1:05 of the 10th round, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

McGregor has been rumored to be making his way to WWE and has said that he would defeat Mayweather in a rematch.

Editor’s Opinion:

This doesn’t surprise me one bit. The build for this fight was huge, and everyone was curious to see if Mayweather still had it. In the end, he was able to defeat the trash-talking McGregor and put him in his place.
