Le Champion has spoken. Prior to their match at NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom 14 on January 5, 2020, Hiroshi Tanahashi said that if he can defeat Chris Jericho, he should get an AEW Championship match.

According to an official post on both his Instagram account and YouTube, Jericho thinks that this is a good idea, and has agreed to grant Tanahashi a match if Le Champion is defeated. You can see the post and video below:

According to a report from F4WOnlineit is unknown at this time if this means that there will be a working relationship between AEW and NJPW in the future. This move by Jericho seemed odd, as the two organizations have some bad blood due to how things ended when Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks and New Japan parted ways.

Jericho has a clause in his AEW contract, which allows him to work in New Japan.

Editor’s Opinion:

As with everything in wrestling, never say never. While the relationship may be rocky now, any time two wrestling juggernauts can work together to create dream matches and expose their product to a bigger audience, it’s a win-win for everyone!
