Backstage Plans for Lana and Her Role on “Smackdown Live”

Last Tuesday on “Smackdown Live,” Lana made her return to the company and will now face Naomi for the Women’s Championship upcoming at “Money In The Bank.”

According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it is suspected that although she is supposed to be a heel, Lana will most likely end up becoming a babyface, due to the gimmick that she has been given.

It would appear that the “Ravishing Russian” has been put into the role that was originally planned for Eva Marie, who will not be returning to the company, in order to pursue an acting career.

It is unknown at this time when her husband Rusev will be returning to “Smackdown Live,” and what his involvement with Lana will be going forward.

I had been a huge fan of the Eva Marie voiceover gimmick, and to me, this is no exception. I’ve been a huge fan of Lana for quite a while, and I look forward to seeing what she can do on the main roster. Having her work with Naomi is really smart, because she knows what she’s doing, and can help the “Ravishing Russian” with transition to in-ring competition on “Smackdown Live.”
