There wasn’t a pattern. It had been previously reported that Vince McMahon was heavily involved with this week’s episode of Raw, so much so that he re-wrote much of the show as it was on the air. But what was his status for Smackdown?
According to a report from PWInsider Elite, McMahon did not make the trip to Portland with the rest of the SmackDown crew, however, he reviewed the show’s creative plans remotely.
Backstage morale is said to be better without McMahon physically present, which was not the case this past week on Raw. Although some are waiting to see whether or not this remote approach becomes permanent, there’s reportedly optimism that McMahon only took such a heavy hand on “Raw” because he was there in person.
If McMahon continues to exert his influence over WWE creative from a distance, the feeling is that shows will run as they had been leading up to WrestleMania 39, as opposed to the way they went on Monday night. Sources also indicate that the entire situation will continue to be overblown by internet reactions.
Editor’s Opinion:
So the Internet Wrestling Community made something seem worse than it actually is. What a surprise. As I’ve said before, I don’t feel that Vince McMahon should not be involved with the creative process and he should leave that to Triple H. I’m sure that Raw was a one-time thing and we can expect things to continue how they were under the new regime.
