He’s truly vintage. For over 20 years, Michael Cole has been the voice of WWE programming. He has been the lead announcer of Raw and Smackdown in some capacity during this time and has also had the opportunity to call some of the biggest matches in the history of the company at various WrestleManias throughout the years.
According to the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Cole recently received a promotion and is now the Vice President of Announcing. Over the years, he has been the person who was not only the senior announcer, but also oversaw the announcing teams. While he didn’t choose the actual teams, he and Triple H hired announcers that would be a part of the teams that were chosen by Vince McMahon, Paul Heyman, and Bruce Prichard.
There has been backstage talk for a few years that Cole is looking to scale back on announcing, but it is unknown what his future holds at this point.
He has certainly been a part of some outrageous moments over the years:
Editor’s Opinion:
Love him or hate him, he has been a fixture in the company for over two decades. There is no doubt that he will be inducted into the Hall of Fame sooner rather than later, and rightfully so! Congratulations to him on everything that he has achieved over the years!
