It was officially announced during WWE “Extreme Rules” on April 26 that the “King of the Ring” tournament will be making a return.

A live special will air this Tuesday, April 28 exclusively on the WWE Network.

With the finals of the tournament taking place on Tuesday, it appears that qualifying matches will occur during “Monday Night Raw” on April 27.

It’s not yet known if a prize outside of the “King of the Ring” title will be up for grabs.

The following is a list of all past “King of the Ring” winners dating back to 1985:

  • Don Muraco (1985)
  • Harley Race (1986)
  • Randy Savage (1987)
  • Ted DiBiase (1988)
  • Tito Santana (1989)

Editor’s Note

If WWE really wants “King of the Ring” to mean something, they should award the winner a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Just a thought.
