It wouldn’t be a “Monday Night Raw” in Chicago without the possibility of fans in attendance chanting the name of their former WWE hero.
According to an exclusive report by Wrestlezone.com, company officials are worried that the WWE Universe will ruin the Sept. 26 broadcast with chants of CM Punk’s name.
Members of the social media team have been told to be on high alert tonight as well. They will be tasked with searching Facebook, Twitter and Reddit to find any plans fans may have to “hijack” the show.
A #HijackRaw movement came into fruition when “Raw” was in Chicago back in March, although it ultimately fizzled out throughout the broadcast.
Since WWE had success in stopping their previous attempts, it’s raised their awareness even more so should a stronger plan be deployed tonight.
Wrestlezone.com was also told that Vince McMahon, Michael Hayes and Kevin Dunn have a strong dislike for independent wrestling star Colt Cabana, a close friend of CM Punk.
The last time WWE was in Chicago, security forced several fans who were sitting ringside wearing Cabana shirts to remove them immediately.
While doing her media rounds in the city Monday morning, Stephanie McMahon confirmed that Punk will not be on “Raw,” although she’s open to a working relationship again sometime down the road.
Editor’s Note
Considering how boring WWE programming has been as of late, I’d almost be welcome to a #HijackRaw movement. It may make things watchable and entertaining for a change.
