It doesn’t appear as though actor Stephen Amell, who is famous for his lead role as Oliver Queen on the hit DC Comics television show Arrow, will be suiting up for a match at WWE “SummerSlam” any longer.

Hollywoodlife.com was first to report that World Wrestling Entertainment was planning on having Amell square off with Stardust one-on-one at the biggest pay-per-view event of the summer.

Dave Meltzer of PWInsider.com is now reporting that plans for said match have been cancelled, although he didn’t elaborate on why that was the case.

Without knowing for sure, one would guess that the recent passing of Stardust’s (Cody Rhodes) father, “The American Dream” Dusty Rhodes, had something to do with it.

Stardust hasn’t been seen on WWE programming since.

Both Amell and Stardust had gone back-and-forth on Twitter, with the two even facing off ringside when Amell made an on-screen appearance as a fan during the March 25 edition of “Monday Night Raw.”

WWE “SummerSlam” takes place on Aug. 23, live from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Editor’s Note

While it would have been cool to see Amell dressed as the Green Arrow wrestle for WWE, it’s totally reasonable for the company to call off the bout considering the circumstances surrounding Cody’s father. If Stardust needs more time away from the ring to be with his family, he should take it.
