Perfect. Ingenious. A moment for the ages.
Seth Rollins cashing in his Money in the Bank contract during the main event of WrestleMania 31 will go down as one of the most breathtaking and mesmerizing four-minute sequences in company history.
I didn’t think WWE had the you know what to go ahead with a cash-in at its biggest pay-per-view of the year. It seemed like such a logical thing to do, but “logic” and “WWE” are like oil and water these days.
No one at WrestlingRumors.net predicted Rollins leaving Levi’s Stadium as WWE World Heavyweight Champion. We were all open to the idea of a cash-in taking place, but it felt set in stone for months that Roman Reigns was going to be WWE’s golden champion for the foreseeable future.
I never thought in a million years that WWE would have the guts to have a MITB cash-in during the #WrestleMania main event. Glad they did.

Reigns losing to Brock Lesnar? Preposterous.
With WWE Chairman Vince McMahon calling the shots, fans were either going to have to adapt to Reigns carrying the strap or simply ignore the product all together. At the end of the day, it’s his way or the highway.
Boo him all you want. It won’t matter.
It’s clear that plans have changed, though. I’m not sure if this win says more about WWE’s faith in Rollins or its lack of faith in Reigns. Maybe it says nothing at all.
Reigns will get his moment in the spotlight soon enough. It just wasn’t meant to be at WrestleMania.
He’s slowly proving a lot of his naysayers wrong, especially when it comes to his in-ring work. His bout with Lesnar was one of the stiffest confrontations fans have seen in a long time. Reigns isn’t going to wow you with a diverse arsenal of wrestling maneuvers, but he can offer great value as a powerhouse brute with high impact punches, knees and strikes.
WWE could go off in several directions in terms of challengers for the 28-year-old Rollins over the next few months, beginning as soon as “Extreme Rules” on April 26.
Lesnar is obviously entitled to a rematch at some point in time. He may be away from the squared circle for a while, but upon his return, you better believe that he’ll be thrust right back into the title picture to seek his revenge on Rollins.
Reigns is a regular on WWE programming and the most likely candidate to receive the first shot. The history between Rollins and Reigns as former members of The Shield and WWE Tag Team Champions adds an interesting dynamic into the fold.
How about “The Viper” Randy Orton? He defeated Rollins during the second match at WrestleMania 31 following an RKO in mid-air after an attempted Curb Stomp.

Regardless of who his first foe will be, it’s clear that Rollins’ future in WWE is brighter than ever.
His booking at WrestleMania 31 was calculated and imaginative. Never before had the briefcase been used during a title fight to conjure up a Triple Threat. Rollins was able to “steal” the gold while never having to pin the seemingly unstoppable Lesnar.
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
I said during the WrestlingRumors.net WrestleMania 31 Wrestling Warm-Up that Reigns “had a zero percent chance of leaving with the belt around his waist.” The company would have risked alienating the crowd once again by forcing a major Reigns win down the throats of the WWE Universe.
Kudos to them for rolling the dice, going outside of their comfort zone and awarding the moment to Rollins, who has now cemented his spot as one of WWE’s elite (if that wasn’t the case already).
I’m excited about wrestling again. For now, anyway. WWE still has some tricks up its sleeve. Rollins is champion, Reigns is on the hunt, the World Heavyweight Championship is back on television and the main event picture has its young blood money feud.
Momentum is on their side. People are talking. Hopefully more are watching.
Don’t screw this up.
