To the dismay of NXT fans all around the WWE Universe, the ever-popular Sami Zayn will not be a part of “NXT Takeover: Brooklyn” this Saturday night at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
It was during the May 4 edition of “Monday Night Raw” when Zayn injured his shoulder following an Open Challenge United States Championship bout against John Cena. It was revealed shortly after that the former NXT Champion would need to undergo surgery to repair the rotator cuff in his left arm, keeping him out of action for upwards of six months.
Following the most recent edition of “NXT” programming, Zayn was took part in an exclusive interview for WWE.com, giving fans an update on his health status.
“We’re looking at at least another couple of months,” Zayn said when asked about the timetable for his return. “I’m doing my best on my end, but a lot of this is just nature, and however your body is going to react, and whenever doctors will clear me.”
“But I’m doing my best in the rehab room to try and get back as soon as I can. But don’t hold your breath.”
“Soon. Hopefully,” Zayn adds.

Editor’s Note
“NXT Takeover: Brooklyn” won’t be the same without Zayn competing between the ropes. No one on the roster deserves that moment in front of the largest NXT crowd in history quite like he does. I hope to see him back in the ring soon, whether it’s on NXT or full-time on the main roster.
