Rules and Guidelines for WWE Announcers Allegedly Leaked

Being an announcer for World Wrestling Entertainment isn’t as easy as it looks, especially when you consider the endless rules and guidelines coming down from WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

A user over at Squared Circle, which is a subreddit for all things wrestling, recently posted a series of pages with instructions for announcers from several years ago.

Editor’s Note

Most of the pointers appear to be fairly straightforward in design, applying to almost all announcers in all professions. Others, however, are completely out of left field:

– “DON’T SCREAM.” We appreciate that.

– “This is television, not radio. We don’t need to call every move a superstar makes.” True, but it would be nice to hear more of the moves called more often. Not EVERY move, but most of them, which is how Joey Styles called matches for ECW.

– “Do your homework. An announcer should never, ever do a show they have not done research on.” See, JBL?

– Referring to a hospital as a medical center, international as global and not being able to say talent, acrobatics and feud seems a tad silly, but it’s their company and they’ll block out words as they please.
