At WWE “Night of Champions” Sunday night, “The Vigilante” Sting fell short in his quest to become WWE World Heavyweight Champion, losing to Seth Rollins in the main event.
Reports emerged shortly after the pay-per-view went off the air that Sting had legitimately hurt himself after taking a turnbuckle powerbomb in the corner, with PWInsider.com confirming that the trainers coming in the ring was not a work.
WWE’s original plan was for the 56-year-old to head home after the show, but those plans have now changed, with Sting now set to appear on WWE’s flagship program later tonight.
An official diagnosis has yet to be made, however, it’s noted that Sting may have gone to undergo medical tests either late last night or early this morning.
Dave Meltzer adds that the injury in question may be to either Sting’s neck or spinal cord, but that is not confirmed at this time. There’s also a possibility that this ends his wrestling career.
Many backstage are upset over Sting’s injury, as many look at the WCW veteran as being great to work with.
