The fourth and final encounter of the John Cena versus Rusev feud will take place at WWE “Payback,” live from the Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore on May 17.
The two will battle it out in an “I Quit” match for the WWE United States Championship.
Cena defeated Rusev in the first-ever “Russian Chain” Match at WWE “Extreme Rules” on April 26, touching all four corners of the ring while tethered to Rusev to secure the victory.
There have been 15 “I Quit” matches in WWE history.
The last one took place at “Extreme Rules” two years ago when Alberto Del Rio defeated Jack Swagger to become the No. 1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Cena has won the most “I Quit” matches in WWE history, defeating Randy Orton, Batista, The Miz and John “Bradshaw” Layfield.
Editor’s Note
An “I Quit” match with Cena? That should make the outcome of this bout fairly obvious, right? In no way, shape or form will WWE allow Cena to utter those two dreaded words into a microphone. He’s the hero of the masses who never backs down in the face of adversity. With that being said, I’d also be shocked to hear Rusev quit as well. There are ways to get around this, but still. This stipulation really backs the writers into a corner.
